Acne and Diet – Part 2 – Myths about Acne and Diet

Acne and Diet – Part 2

The Notion That Diet Doesn’t Cause Acne Is A Myth.

The dogmatic theory that diet will not cause acne and that acne is simply an incurable genetic condition was based upon two old-fashioned studies published in 1969 and 1971 that were aimed toward studying the connection between acne and diet.

These studies were the foundation of the ‘acne symptoms treatment strategy’, meaning, because acne is a genetic disease that can’t be prevented, a common way to deal with acne will be to tackle its symptoms (bacteria, irritation, infection, redness, greasiness), by implementing lotions, antibiotics, taking prescribed drugs and over the counter medications.

What was discovered since then.

Surprisingly enough, years after the above studies were published, medical trials and comprehensive research studies experimenting the acne diet link have found the studies from 1969 and 1971 had came to the wrong conclusions and were in fact critically flawed.

The reason why the medical fraternity and pharmaceutical companies still rely on these out dated studies is because it make fiscal sense to roll out this information to every new patient who presents to them with an acne problem. They are in the business of making people reliant on medications and drugs for acne treatment. And as we have already discussed in Acne and Diet – Part 1 it is not good for their business to promote a healthy diet, in their position it would make no sense to sell a healthy diet.

Recent studies have clearly found a significant link between healthy eating habits, diet and acne and how diet  effects the skin. These studies show how an improper diet can contribute in producing and exaggerating acne symptoms. It seems that the wrong eating habits is currently believed to be one of the main acne contributing factors. An unbalanced diet or eating certain foods that you are sensitive to can negatively have an effect on hormonal regulation. Incorrect diet can also be detrimental to the normal process of toxin removal, in the human body, which often seriously exaggerate existing acne and other skin conditions.

Hi, some really good information there!!
Just wondering, who would we speak to to see if it really is our own individual diet causing acne and how we can fix it?

  2. Bev says:

    Hi Sean,
To be honest most medical professionals do not accept the links between acne and diet. I gained the information I have through the publication “Acne No More”. I have also tried and tested this product personally and it has made a huge difference. One of my teenage children was affected badly by adolescent acne and as a result of following the Acne No More Program their acne is almost completely gone after only 6 weeks. There are links to the Acne No More Program on the heading of this site and at the bottom left if you scroll all the way down. Go through to their site and have a read of the information. It’s not an over night cure, there is work involved, but the results speak for themselves.
Thanks for your comment and question

  3. Wal Heinrich says:

Many years ago when I was a teenager, those terrible spots used to all too regularly appear on my cheeks and out would come the cream and the washing of the spot with lots of hot water and soap. After a few months, or was it years?, I came to the conclusion that I could control and sometimes eliminate acne by watching my diet and especially by reducing the amount of sugary foods and sweets I ate. This was radical in those days because no one I knew suspected a link between diet and skin health.
